I’m changing the mailbox plan on some of the users to change their mailbox quota but it does not change the actual mailbox quota on the mailbox itself. The mailbox plan shows the correct setting but the mailbox size underneath it shows the old quota and also on the exchange the quota is still the old one..
This is generally caused when the Hosting plan OR Mailbox plan does not have :
“Recoverable Items Storage per Organization, MB:”
This value has to be set to 6144 or higher.
If it’s 0 or unlimited Exchange powershell command will error out with an result that the new quota’s never get applied in Exchange it self.
Do note in general you should leave litigation hold off (even with these values filled in).
