I am trying to add the following windows templates to be handled by SolidCP:-

Windows 7 x64
Windows 8.1 Pro x64
Possibly Windows 10
Win Server 2008/2012 r2 x64
Possibly Win Server 2012 r2 in near future...

As well as Ubuntu and Cent OS Latest versions...

I am not sure what is unattended for despite reading many tutorials and watching all videos posted on the website in this regards....

I also used to do things manually by copying .vhd files for clients without even SysPrep (but started to use it now), so is unattended really important for all the OS I mentioned above ?? and if it really is how to create one for Non-Server Windows and Possibly Linux OS because am really confused how to get the job done with less technical skills required...

Thank you,

Hi,

unattended.xml and sysprepping the Image is neccessary for all Windows templates. Otherwise you would get multiple VMs with the same IDs, which can cause many problems if the VMs are in the same network.

Linux templates are right now not fully supported (as far as I know it wasn't supported in Websitepanel neither). You can provision Linux VMs manually (manual installation) and control it via SolidCP. The Problem is, that the password and the IP adresses can't be assigned automatically to Linux VMs right now, because the VPS provider is designed more for Windows VMs. I know that's already on the todo list from the SolidCP devs, but it's not scheduled for any specific release right now. The devs are also working on a VMM module and we hope that this module would made it possible to provision also Linux VMs automatically via Virtual Machine Manager.

Best regards

Bogdan

Thank you Bodgan for making things clearer to me regarding this...

But if you do NOT do unattended or sysprep is that why a windows 8.1 say for example won't get the IP assigned for the VM network adapter or even the OS username won't get the password assigned to it ?? or is that a whole different problem ??...

Cheers,

Sam
