Merge two environments into one

Hello guys

We're having two separate Exchange-Environments and each of them is managed by an own installation of SolidCP / Website Panel.

The "old" environment runs Exchange 2010 and 2013 and is managed via Website Control Panel.

The "new" environment runs Exchange 2016 and is managed via SolidCP 1.3.0

To simplify this setup we want to migrate the old environment into the new one.

Does anyone have an idea or a way on how to achieve that the easiest way regarding the Panel-Unifying?

Cheers!

Hello,

With migration do you also move Exchange into 1 or is it just the 1x wsp and 1x scp into 1 single panel?

If it's just the panel it self it will be a bit of work as they will use the same ID's and values for customers and hosting plans.

Depending on the amount of customers one panel has:

Most simple solution: (but time consuming depending on the amount of hosting spaces / users): setup SolidCP Server on the 2010/2013 servers (can be under a different port so it doesn't conflict with Websitepanel) and add them to your SCP Panel.

Take over the settings from wsp server settings into scp server settings then create the hosting plans / mailbox plans where needed, and give a first test on creating a mailbox (to verify it's all working and setup well).

You can then follow the Enterprise import guide to get existing accounts / hosted organizations inside SolidCP.

More complex but worth the time if you have alot of organization units:

  1. update wsp to your SCP release (or update your SCP first to latest 1.4.6 and then update WSP to latest 1.4.6 too saves some time).
  2. Add the servers to SolidcP as described in simple solution
  3. Export hosting plans, users, hosting spaces and settings, exchangeusers tables - then reimport them dropping some values (such as ID's) most likely easiest via powershell.

Complex solution you will require some decent SQL knowledge or hire someone who can do this for you (as it has alot of sql restraints to tangle with). Please note we can also provide this under our paid services here: https://solidcp.com/services/server-support/

Regards,

Marco

Hi Marco

I hope you are doing well in this time of the pandemic. Thank you for your answer and sorry for my late reply. Back then we decided to go for the more complex approach but we somehow got lost in the second step.

So we still have (almost) the same setup:

  • The “old” environment runs Exchange 2010 and 2013 and is managed via Website Control Panel in an own AD.
  • The “new” environment runs Exchange 2016 and is managed via SolidCP 1.4.6 in an own AD.

What I meant with simplifying is to perform a cross-forest migration from the "old" to the "new" environment, with the end goals of only having:

  • one domain
  • one Panel
  • >= Exchange-Server 2016

Is there a way that we perform an Exchange-Migration to the "new" environment and then tell SolidCP 1.4.6 "Hey we have some new mailboxes, please discover what's new on the exchange server and import that"? Would that be the Enterprise import tool? In that case we would not have to touch the "old" environment in any way but only migrating to the "new" one.

Cheers!

The enterprise import tool would indeed be used to get existing mailboxes in AD/Exchange into SolidCP.

It will basically ask you to select the hosting space/ hosted org in solidcp, and the OU in AD and allow you to select what to import (select all also possible).

Just make sure the accounts are in the same OU as the hosted organization in SolidCP, and that on imported accounts the attributes and address book policies are correctly set.
