Hello,

I'm installing SolidCP from scratch and are able to add our DNS server etc but when it comes to our Web Server it errors with: "Error getting remote server information"

I can access the server on IP:9003 both on the server itself and from the Portal/Enterprise Server.

Password is correct have tried multiple.

Running on Windows Server 2012 R2

How can I troubleshoot this?

Kind regards,
raja

Hello,

there's only 4 possible ways to where you can obtain this issue.

  1. Portal server can't reach   http://ip:9003 (or whatever you fill in at connection settings)
  2. Password is incorrect (for testing make sure you use 25 chars and no special characters that can be used in coding such as " '  / > < etc) you can reset this with the installer normally. (clicking the SolidCP Server component then settings).
  3. The SolidCP versions are different (in some cases if your SolidCP server is too different from the SolidCP Portal it can give this error).
  4. Do you have any custom Restrictions, filters, caching rules enabled on the global server? in some rare cases i saw that disrupt the connectivity too.

Regards,

Marco

Hi,

I'm able to add other Windows Server 2012 R2 without any issues.

1 = I can reach the SolidCP Server on http://IP-address:9003

2 = I've changed the password to very simple just for testing, still no avail.

3 = Using same latest version on all Server/Portal/Enterprise, I'm installing from scratch.

4 = Don't have any custom restrictions as the server also replies on http://IP-address:9003

I have run WebSitePanel on this server before but all that have been deleted and SolidCP is installed from scratch just to avoid issues.

Any other ideas who to troubleshoot?

Kind regards,
raja

I'm afraid those are the only reasons i seen in 6+ years of WebsitePanel and now SolidCP support.

if 1, 2 , and 3 are ruled out you generally are only left with environmental configurations (usually caching or filter/ restriction settings) that prevent it from passing info around (in such cases the site will load, and appears all good, but due to filter / restriction / or cache the code craps out and SolidCP Portal can't connect).

since you had WSP installed before i assume you might be able to find the configuration for it in it's Web.config of the WebsitePanel server (that it's excluded some rules/ caching etc).

If it's still not working for you i can look at it my self (will probably take + - 45 minutes max) but common rule is when i look at it my self i will have to invoice for time (1 hour is 75 euro's, 3 hours 200 euro's, etc) All profits go back into the SolidCP Project.
