Hi All,

New to SolidCP, used websitepanel in the past but always reverted back to linux based OS.

Anyway,

Trying to setup FTP, installed the service and added the FTP IIS V8 to the server, no other settings changed,.

No errors. but in FTP (SERVER PAGE) i get (User Isolation Mode: StartUserDirectory)

Activated FTP in hosting plan, now where do i add users?

Also do i need to assign permissions or does the panel extract from the IIS or apppool users?

Cheers All

Dean

Hello,

Well Linux and Windows both work well as hosting platform depending what you need it for 🙂  (we do aim to support both in the near future)

For FTP: Make sure you have a system service added to your hosting plan too (it needs the bw/ diskspace values).

next up is to create a SolidCP user --> and "create space" --> give it yourdomain.com (whatever you want to use for ftp connectivity).

Once created it should show you this:

Where you click on FTP Accounts --> and add your ftp account.
You then check in an ftp client if it can connect.

If it can't connect please let me know if your behind a firewall (in that case some additional passive FTP settings need to be made)

Thanks for getting back to me Marco. i had already added the system services

and unlimited FTP users.

but i have noticed withing HOSTING PLANS > Target Server that i have 2 Plans, But i only have one on the plan selection page.

My server has the option to enable FTP.

My Server Resources is grayed out. could this be the issue?

Still not seeing FTP in the customer section.

Anything else i could be missing?

Cheers

ehmm, tricky one 🙂
basically on hosting plans --> it should be enabled
you can check space statistics --> and click edit at the right

it should show you exactly what services it has in it's hosting plan

Thank you Marco, i had missed the Virtual resources section. now available, and users added successfully. 🙂

I now have a windows issue where its not loading the directory in FTP, but ill figure that out, unless youve experienced any config issues on IIS - FTP ?

Again, thanks 🙂

Glad you got it working 🙂

the not loading directory generally happens if your behind nat.
make sure you click on iis managment --> server name --> FTP Firewall options (or something similar)

Define the ports similar to 50000-60000 (high port range and the amount of ports depends on how busy you expect it to be)

once defined and applied make sure your firewall (including windows firewall) allows 21,50000-60000 , and restart the FTP service in services (it's required to apply the passive port range)
