hi guys,
i bought a server with hetzner and it seems when ordering additional subnets they have the subnet connected to the main server IP, so u need to setup DHCP on the local server and allow windows server to assign Ips for your VMs created with Hyper-V
they provided me this tutorial:
https://docs.hetzner.com/robot/dedicated-server/windows-server/windows-server-subnet/
am wondering they way they do things will it work with SCP or not really ??
i need help plz in this regards and urgently otherwise ill get a server from elsewhere...
thanks,
In my opinion it should also work without a DHCP. You won’t get the PXEBOOT from Hetzner in this case, but you can let SolidCP assign the IP to a VM. The DHCP is doing nothing else.
You can try it out: just login to SoöidCP as serveradmin, go to „Configuration“ -> „IP Addresses“ and select the „VPS External Network“ Pool. There you can add your external IP addresses. If you know try to provision a new VM to a hosting space any have configured a template, which has the SolidCP VM Config service included, then you should be able to assign the IP to the VM via SolidCP.
Best regards
Bogdan
thank you for ur prompt reply bodgan, i know how to add ips to a pool in fact ive been using SCP for years now its the best, but unfortunately simply using any IPs from the subnet and assigning it to a Guest OS wont work ! i jsut tried this again !
the only option is to order a single IP with their service Not a subnet, but i need also to assign a MAC address to the VM as per this:
https://docs.hetzner.com/robot/dedicated-server/virtualization/windows-server-hyperv/
Can SCP configure the MAC address automatically when provisioning a new VPS ?
Id like to know this coz it seems the only option right now and am allowing my clients to self provision their VM via SCP, if however that new VM doesnt get a MAC it wont work !
plz let me know,
thanks,
Hello,
I don't think this is currently possible.
It's basically just the hyper-v mac range to auto assign a mac, we have no function in solidcp at this point to map a mac address per ip.
