[2/15/2018 12:01:27 AM] WARNING: Error ReloadZone for secondary zone 'domainname.com': Unable to cast object of type 'System.String' to type 'System.Management.ManagementObject'.

[2/15/2018 12:01:27 AM] ERROR: Could not get DNS Zone
System.Management.ManagementException: Generic failure

Hello,

SolidCP is not the one replicating records, thats done by the default master/ slave record setting in MS DNS.

SolidCP just configures the primary and secondary zones as expected.

With secondary replication issues it's generally down to IP's (especially with NAT setups) that needs to match and allowed. (to which you can see Trevor Robinson's explenation on how to let one zone replicate once --> and then check the log what IP is actually replicating from master --> add it to the allow list --> and your done).

Regards,

Marco

Hi Marco,

thank you for your answer,
the cause of the errors i had was mis configuration in the firewall. i have fixed that but when i saw yesterday that solidcp is not setting the primary/secondary IP addresses properly i planned to check this tonight and post here an feedback.

thank you

Hi,

as i see i have a problem with the NAT. SolidCP uses public ips instead of private ips in the zone transfer. (in my third post from up i have wrote what i did with the setup of the dns servers).

the problem:

when i create new site on primary server right click on the zone>properties go to 'zone transfer' tab. i can see that SolidCP has added the private ip and the public ip in the allow zone transfer:only the following servers.

in the secondary dns server right click on the zone > properties. the master servers is the public ip.

if i update the ips to private and remove the public the secondary dns server manage to retrieve the records from the master dns server.

can you please advice what do i need to change or update in SolidCP dns server configurations to fix this.

thank you

Ori
