Thanks! After domain is set up, I like the hostname feature because it allows for setting up subdomain websites without cluttering the list of domains.

I find it confusing only on the "Add New Domain" page, where (as far as I can tell) it doesn't do anything anyway.

Could anyone give me a quick walk-through in how I can set up an instant alias for a customer in SolidCP please?

Hello,

If you use virtual server:

1. Configure alias domain in the Virtual server properties.

2. Make sure the domain is inside the Control panel and has the "Allow customer sub-domain" checked in it's properties

3. In Things such as Websites make sure you use value: [ip] instead of the actual IP address selected, also make sure you have a record [host_name] with value [ip] added.

When you create a new space and select create preview domain it should then work.

On existing domains make sure the site is created BEFORE creating the preview domain (else it will not add the DNS records for the website).

Thats all there's to it 🙂

Regards,

Marco

Thanks again for your reply Marco.
I configured the Alias Domain in the PREVIEW DOMAIN section of the Virtual server to customerdomain.com."myservername.com" and also checked the "Allow Customer Sub-Domain" in the account in question, but then your 3rd part confused me. Where do I find that setting?

Also, when I try navigating to the Preview Domain I added (with the customers domain at the start) I get the IIS splash page. That would indicate it is finding the site but not actually runnning it wouldn't it?

3rd part is the DNS section in the IIS Service configuration.

Your desciption sounds like the bindings weren't added to the site, have you created the preview domain AFTER the website was created? other way around does not work.
