Is there an extension that can integrate SolidCP with Amazon's Route 53 DNS service?

Being a small hosting company I have traditionally used Websitepanel (previously HELM) and run a cheaper secondary server for backup MX and DNS, but a number of people suggest that backup MX is no longer a good idea, and I like the idea of fast resilient DNS, but I want to keep a single control panel. I know Plesk has an extension but I was hoping to avoid the pain of migration. I could help write an integration if anyone else was interested in it. Any thoughts or suggestions would be very welcome.

Hello,

The first bit: Backup MX is still OK if your mail server isn't redundant, aslong as it's not an open relay etc.

Backup DNS (Secondary DNS) is always a good idea (preferably even 3 dns servers in different locations / networks/ etc).
SolidCP can handle as many secondary dns's as you would want/need so that shouldn't be an issue.

An integration is possible, it will most likely need to be scripted as it's own dns module (with resource group / provider etc in the database).

If you want to script something for it i would highly recommend to sign the Contributers License Agreement, and sign up to our git:   https://git.key4ce.com

This will provide you access to our contributors group chat, where others can help with ideas/ advice and so on 🙂

Regards,

Marco

Hi Marco,

Many thanks for the info, I'll check out Amazon's API and sign the agreement and go from there.

Regards,

Richard
