Hello,

We're currently using a control panel we hate on leased dedicated servers.

We've been utilizing Google Cloud hosting for a while now for a few sites and are contemplating migrating to SolidCP/WHMCS on Google Cloud.

Something like this.  (all windows 2016 servers)

Server 1 - CP Server/WHMCS/DNS1
Server 2 - Email/DNS2
Server 3 - Primary Webserver for shared hosting
Server 4 - Primary SQL (2016) for SQL hosting

Can anyone provide any input on utilizing SolidCP with Google Cloud ?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts and guidance you can provide.

Kind Regards,

Mike

Hello,

If their Windows 2016 servers it will work the same as any normal deployment so normal guides can be followed.

One small correction on the server plans though: whmcs doesn't support Windows, only Linux

Regards,

Marco

Hi Marco,

Thanks for the feedback, I've seen WHMCS running on windows servers.  Is it just not recommended or are there problems that will require a linux box to overcome?

Any other ideas for billing system that wouldn't require a linux box if indeed it's just too buggy?

Thanks again for the feedback!

Mike

Hi Mike,

I've been using WHMCS for many a year now running on 2003, 2008 and 2012 servers - never had a problem 🙂

I have seen mixed results with people running WHMCS on windows.

I think it largely depends on the features / addons / etc you plan on using.

Though the main part is if you plan on using whmcs support it's one of the first things they will point out (as they officially no longer support it since version 6 or something).
