Trying to get web deployment to work without having to go into the target server.

SolidCP not seeming to hook up anything about web deployment automatically.  What am I missing?

Also, how would portal users get a publish settings file?  Need that for whatever random password is generated.

Hello,

First of all Web Deployment requires Web Deployment 2.1 or higher.

Web Deploy 3.6 is used to deploy sites such as joomla and alike using the web App gallery (different beast).

Once installed you can enable it in the Web server settings in the SolidCP Portal.

However i have to warn you that people who use this need to be aware that by default Visual Studio will break the permissions unless the client makes the necessary settings on the Visual Studio before using it's access to publish sites.

Regards,

Marco

I believe I have that all. I can do webdeployments on the server, incidentally the MS Web Platform installer seems to be calling newest version "Web Deploy 3.6 for Hosting Servers", instead of "Web Deployment" now.

After being made aware of the Templates area, (Clicked Templates link in bottom right corner of ServerAdmin home screen) I saw the publishsettings template, but unaware of how to instruct people to be able to download it.

hmm from what i know you always had 2 very similarly names pieces of software:

web deployment 2.1

Web deploy 3.x (hosting edition or  normal)

web deployment is what was made for the visual studio web deployment features, and web deploy is more like a web application gallery.

once web deployment is enabled it should create a section in the website properties i think (I must say i barely ever used it my self due to visual studio clients overwritting perms unless the customer makes custom changes to its vs to avoid it)
