Hi All,
I installed system center vmm 2016 on a server with WIndows Server 2016 but when i try to add Hyper V service with provider: Hyper V Provider For Private Cloud i get error connecting to MS Hyper V virtual machine management provider i get error in solidcp:
Unable to connect to Hyper-V server
Possible reasons:
- You are going to manage remote Hyper-V server (either Server Core or Hyper-V Server 2008 machine) where SolidCP Server is not installed. Type the correct server name at the top of this form and then click "Connect" button.
- SolidCP Server has insufficient permissions to connect remote Hyper-V server. Please refer administrator guide for client and server setup instructions.
- Lost connectivity with SolidCP Server installed on Hyper-V virtualization server. Check connectivity and open service properties page once again.
Could you please tell me what could be wrong?
If i try to connect to Hyper V provider for private cloud i get better looking error:
[7/25/2018 2:37:18 PM] ERROR: 'Microsoft Hyper-V For Private Cloud' GetHosts
System.Exception: SCVMMServer or SCVMMPrincipalName is empty
at SolidCP.Providers.VirtualizationForPC.HyperVForPC.GetVMMSClient()
at SolidCP.Providers.VirtualizationForPC.HyperVForPC.GetClusters()
at SolidCP.Server.VirtualizationServerForPrivateCloud.GetClusters()
Could you please tell me is Provider for private cloud needs:
Service Provider Foundation
Hello,
HyperVForPC is designed for SCVMM 2008R2. We do not currently have a version for VMM2016.
You will be best to use the HyperV provider at the moment.
Kind Regards,
Trevor Robinson
Thank you for your answer Trevor!
I am using Hyper V provider but we need some kind of failover setup and even without failover we sometimes move VM between hosts and then Solidcp lose connection with them - very often some VM need a lot of cpu of ssd space and the host is full then we move them. I guess there is not much interest in Hyper V for private cloud and it will not be updated?
