For that i am looking for guides under manuals but cannot find any.

for the IP address (NAT), i have found the way to define NAT ips under servers -> ip address.

now i am looking for a way to add a secondary dns server...

Hello,

The secondary dns also needs to be added as a SolidCP Server

You then add the DNS role to that secondary server.

Go to the Primary DNS Service properties--> you can then select listening ip, aswell as "Allow Zone Transfers" (add secondary server ip here).

then go to the "Secondary dns services" a little further down the page, and select your secondary dns.

to finish off enter "NS Servers" (all ns servers should be added there).

all thats left is to save and try it out.

If the secondary server is having issues grabing the zone records, on the master turn on to allow from any server, sync secondary dns, go back to master and check it's dns log, view which ip is used for syncing the dns --> add that ip in the "Allow zone transfers" in solidcp and try again.

Regards,

Marco

Hi,

thank you for your answer,

i have done the following:

  1. installed SolidCP Server asp.net v4.5 on the secondary dns server.
  2. in the portal added new server to the secondary ip address.
  3. added new ip address in the ip address list.
  4. back in servers edit the new server i have added-> adding dns service.
    - set Listening IP Addresses.
    - update name servers
  5. back to the primary server->
    - Allow Zone Transfers: type IP of secondary DNS Server here. added the secondary ip address.
    - Secondary DNS Services: added the secondary server from the list.
  6. update.

result:

when i create new domain i can see that the domain is created in the dns servers. primary and secondary.

when i click on the domain name i get an error that "Zone not loaded by dns server. the DNS server encountered a problem while attempting to load the zone. The transfer of zone data from master server failed".

where can i find the place where to turn on - allow from any server?

where can i sync the dns server?

where do i see the log file, or you mean log viewer in windows.

the dns log viewer in windows has no errors.

and if i have ns3... can i add multiple ips in the Allow Zone Transfers text box (primary server) ?

thank you

Hello,

The settings to allow from any server is set within the zone itself on the master.

You sync by right clicking on the zone and selecting to "transfer from master" on the slave server.

You can find the log inside the windows event log.

You can add multiple ips by adding them to a new line in the settings.

Kind Regards,
