Does anyone know what the difference between Hyper-v and virtual private servers services? I have been following the guacamole guid and the hyper-v and now I am looking at https://solidcp.com/kb/configuration/hyperv2012r2-os-template/

Hello,

I presume you mean the difference between the provider groups?

Virtual Private Servers is a group for the older Provider which is related to 2008. This is our older legacy provider which is not updated at this time.

HyperV is the newer provider for HyperV servers which includes 2012 R2 upto 2019. This is the active provider and has a active group of developers working on adding features and fixing bugs.

If you are looking at the manuals the HyperV group was renamed from Virtual Private Servers 2012 which is why you may see reference to this. We renamed it when the Proxmox provider was added to try clarify the difference between them.

Kind Regards,

Trevor
