A total of 4 app pools get created when I use dedicated App Pool. But the site is only assigned to 1. The app pools are v2 Classic, v2 Integrated, v4 Classic and v4 Integrated. Is there a way I can just get 1 App Pool to be created or is this by design?

Hi,

This is by design as you can have 1 site with applications under it using the different app pools. The reason we do this in 1 go is that we need to set the App Pool user to the same as the Anon user for the website.

SolidCP does not store this password for security reasons so it wouldn't be able to add the extra app pools as they was needed.

Thanks,

Ah understand. Thanks for the explanation. Just a thought and another question:

  1. Question: It defaults it to v2.0 Classic at this moment, can i default it to v4 Integrated? How do I do that?
  2. Thought: In a large shared environment, would you not be cautioned to have way too many app pools created? Although I say this without knowing if there is a limit to the number of App Pools you can create.

Hi,

To answer your questions:

  1. You can set the default in Policies -> Web Policy
  2. I am not aware of any limit to the amount of app pools on a server. If you have them set to OnDemand it should have no impact on the server.

Kind Regards,
