What are the plans to incorporate .Net Core and PHP 7 into SolidCP. What would be amazing is if we could add “unlimited” versions of each.
i.e. By Default it list the standards and then a button that says Add New. We can type what the version is and the path.
ASP 2, 3, 4, .Net Core
PHP 5.4, 5.5, 5.6, 7.0
That way we control what can and cannot be used.
PHP 7 works with SolidCP aslong as you install the PHP Manager.
(any php 5.x and up works with PHP Manager, SolidCP then uses php manager to detect it’s defaults, it’s versions, etc to apply to sites)
I don’t think there’s any plans for .net core yet (but that might be my lack of knowledge so i will raise this question during the next contributors meeting).
Code wise there are plans to move to the MVC framework on the long term (this will take 3 – 9 months + – ) which allows proper use of modules/plugins like most systems support.
You can install .net core on your servers, its not really important for SolidCP to handle it except you have to set the application pool to “No managed code”.
For SolidCP I think the Application pool options under Extensions tab needs to have an option “.Net Core” and that will set it to the “No managed code” option (user friendly GUI).
We currently set this manually via a command for users that want to run core.
I don’t think much else is needed to be honest, but others may have input on this situation…
Thanks for sharing this, JimJams.

Okay.. But, how to get such option in SolidCP. Is this really supported by the panel? Or they are going to release new version/update to support this? We do not want to go with manual modification.
Its not in the release notes, We have not upgraded yet so can’t confirm but I don’t think it was.
To be honest this is needed quite badly now as we are getting more and more clients signing up to use .Net Core and we still have to set the app pool manually.
Hopefully will be added to the next release?
