Ok to start off this may be a wall of text but its an important wall i feel many will find this helpful.

As my other topic stated I started fresh in an attempt to get this flawless to have piece of mind of reliability and trust in Solidcp.

To begin I need to mention the Standalone server install in 5 mins manual needs updating to reflect with latest changes and updates, at this moment right now, it doesnt.

I going from the Standalone server manual found here: https://solidcp.com/kb/installation/install-solidcp-standalone-server-within-5-minutes/

Firstly I installed a fresh genuine copy of Server 2019 Datacenter, latest updates etc..

Next I installed SQL2019 Express and installed web deploy 4.

Then used the powershell commands to install IIS etc...

Installed Solidcp 1.5.1 installer then ran it selecting Standalone server install.

This Completed successfully, apart from the sql section being a pain and needing to install MSSMS to change Authentication login methods,.. however this is the start of the issues..

Attempting to navigate to the portal to login Im faced with an error, I also need to now install .net 4.8 just to get to the login page. (as its not in the powershell command). So once thats done and installed Im able to get to the portal login, once logged in Im now faced with another set of problems, No Server has been created, No hosting plan created, no admin user created, thus cannot proceed with the final step of the install manual. (These should all be created by default I assume, as it did so the first time with 1.4.9).

Now I thought, ok sure i can add them manually no biggie, but the mess begins as you need to have a server created in order to create a hosting plan to assign to a customer which cannot be created without these first.

So Im taking another non voluntary pause as this feels unstable as it is and I will not continue further until this very start of the process can be perfected because as for now its flawed and misguided, which brings me to another Topic,...

As I mentioned previously the Solidcp community would benefit greatly by having a Discord server as this would ease pressure all round and most importantly allows answers to questions to be made in a much quicker and timely fashion from knowledgeable/experienced members who wish to contribute as well.

Overall I think a much clear explanation and direction of this process is needed for precise install and each section of the serveradmin panel will help eliminate anyone making errors in the future so we can all focus on hosting websites 🙂

The manual is indeed outdated (think it's written in the times of Windows 2012), we intend to launch new manuals with the new (all platform) release.

I personally never use the standalone installer, but i assume it did not create the resources as during setup it did not have asp.net 4.8 where the scripts do require it these days.

However to make the resources manually is pretty easy.. just add a server..enter the password given during setup, if your unsure just reset it via the installer. --> SolidCP Server module.

Once added, add the Operating system, iis, ftp, mssql as you wish.

Then create a hosting plan, and your pretty much at the stage of where the stand-alone installer was.

Regards,

Marco
