I've found a few related posts on this, but nothing so far that helps...

I've installed SolidCP on a new Windows VPS and all looks pretty good except I cannot get the FTP icon to show up under hosting spaces.

Reading other forum posts it sounds like it's just supposed to 'be there', but I've tried everything I've read without success, and getting the feeling there some basic step I've missed.

I've added FTP Server via Server Manager=> Add Roles & Features

I've created a hosting plan add-on that includes unlimited FTP accounts.

I've added that to a new space for a new user...

But no FTP Icon to add users/accounts to a hosting space.

Am I missing something here? Or is there a simple step-by-step somewhere for setting up a new server so it's ready for SolidCP?

Thanks

Matt

Hello,

Have you added the FTP Provider to the server in SolidCP -> Configuration -> Servers?

Regards,

Trevor

Thanks Trevor, yes had done that, but no joy. Have started over now with a new host that offers a more extended 'initial set up', including installing SolidCP, so hopefully that will work. Cheers

Tried this again, new host, new SCP installation, been through every step I can think of, but still no ftp icon on the cp?

  • I've installed Filezilla server
  • Selected that in SCP config
  • Added the ftp options via server roles
  • Created a default ftp site in IIS
  • Added a user in Filezilla with permissions to access that directory
  • Created an SCP hosting addon that includes unlimited ftp account
  • Created a new user and hosting space with that addon
  • Added a firewall rule to accept conenctions on the filezilla port (14147)
  • Checked there's 3 additional rules for ftp connections on port 21

Not sure what else to try, so any suggestions will be much appreciated?

One thing (of many) that I'm not clear on is how to use 'hostnames' and DNS when setting all this up...

I've got one domain pointing to the IP for this VPS and using that for SCP, ftp etc... panel.mydomain.com, ftp.mydomain.com etc?

That has definitely updated to this IP, but won't connect to SCP so I wonder if I'm missing something there? ie. Do I maybe need to enable windows DNS on this VPS or can I continue to use my registrars nameservers and just point everything to this IP?

Thanks in advance for any ideas... or maybe a link to a step by step if anyone know of a good guide for dummies...

Matt
