Is there any actual documentation or How-To of how to use the SolidCP platform? I find myself doing guesswork trying to figure out how to set it up and make it work. The Manuals page is actually more of a FAQ with some decent How-To's for installation but none that I can find for actually using the platform. How do I get started? How to setup hosting plans? VPS? Etc.

Hello,

In Manuals -> Configuration you will find multiple configuration manuals including VPS, Exchange, RDS etc.

There is currently no manual no full guide on how to get started as SolidCP is used in a variety of ways but your more than welcome to ask questions here.

You should setup SolidCP Servers first found in Configuration -> Servers. If you want to combine multiple server in a hosting plan then an Virtual Server can be setup with these services.

Thanks,

Trevor

Hello

There really needs to be a proper user manual on how to properly use this software. Quite frankly this software is very difficult to use. There are too many things that can go wrong, and I fond myself spending hours looking for solutions in this forums.

You guys have designed this software, I don't think that this is a big ask to create documentation for this. There has got to be somebody who may know how this software actually works...

Right now I have been trying to figure out why a "reseller" account cannot create hosting space for the users they create (even serveradmin cannot create Hosting Space for the users under reseller account), and I'm getting very upset and angry right now, because I'm just doing trial and error... This is really ridiculous.

Update: I have started to create own documentation for our own users as we figure thigs out. Something simple such as "Reseller accounts need to create own Hosting Plans" that I wasted 5 hours to figure out are now documented on a SharePoint site... really guys, this application is in dire need of a built-in help at least. Every single time somebody asks me how to do something on this server my life shortens by years (and  that is helped by the fact that this is Windows Server and MS SQL, my arch nemesis)...

This software has been opensource for atleast 10 years, where only less then 4 years under our follow up care (as it was almost completely pushed to a closed source project without our intervention).

Everyone can contribute (in any kind of way), safe to say in all those years not many people had the time to make the documentations correctly or pushed it back to the project/community.

We have made a start at this from the beginning, but quickly had to focus our free time mostly on fixing codes and features rather then spending our time on documentation.

We at SolidCP know how the software works, it's why we provide paid services for people who need more of an urgent support level rather then community / best effort support.

Since you mentioned you have written the documentation for your findings, could you consider contributing this for the community?

Regards,

Marco
