Ok, I found it.  The DisplayName was SmarterMail15, which does not match the VPS.  I don't remember changing anything during the install, and the install folder doesn't have the 15.  I removed the 15, tried again in SolidCP, and now the service has been added successfully.  I also put the 15 back just in case.

THANK YOU!

FYI - I may have other questions later.  I have checked some of the documentation, and while there is a good bit there, it doesn't always cover everything.

Hmm thats intresting,
I will try and replicate a fresh install tomorrow to see if smartermail changed anything in reg keys. (normally this is not something you can change during install but something the program sets for you).

Docs are a bit behind, but we are always happy to help out where the docs fail 🙂 (and hope we can spend some more time on making the docs proper in the future)

Thanks Marco.

While we're on the subject of SmarterMail, is there a good way to export data from WSP on my old VPS and import it into SCP on the new server?  I saw some stuff online about migrating from WSP to SCP on the same server and some confusing info about importing Exchange info (which I don't use) into SCP, but is there a relatively fast way to export/import everything?  I'm talking about customers (tenants in SCP?), domains, websites, ftp users, email info, SQL Server, MySQL--everything?  Or am I going to need to re-enter it all by hand, one customer's stuff at a time?  I shudder at the thought of having to do that.

Thanks!

Well the easy way would be upgrading WSP to SCP (so using the same database and upgrade it to SCP).

The only other way is to create users / hosting spaces by hand and then import resources via space statistics page. (that will be an import per user/hosting space).

So I would need to fully install and basically duplicate the WSP installation from the VPS on the new server, then upgrade the resulting WSP installation to SCP?

And my only other option is to manually recreate all users and hosting spaces and import resources? This second option would require having all websites and email domains/users already installed in order for the resources to be present for SCP to import, would it not?

Wow, you guys certainly do not make it easy to migrate from your old to your new product.
