Is it possible to modify the database to point existing accounts to a new server that is storing the "HostingSpaces" folder? When creating new accounts, the new server hosting the "HostingSpaces" folder is properly selected.

Hello,

The first question will be how did you change servers?

For example did you move the old server using connection settings? or did you create a new System service ?

In general the Location for existing sites is set in the Database table:

ServiceItemProperties

with property name:

DataPath

for each website

Regards,

Marco

Hi Marco,

Thanks for the quick response.

Previously I had setup the hostingspace folder on domain controller as we were not hosting webpages just Exchange. I now want to host webpages but do not want to have the website data on the domain controller.

I updated the virtual machine to use the new web server as the "system". Is this the correct way to go about this?

Thanks

Alright,

If you updated the "system" in virtual server you will also need to update the service ID inside the database.

PackageServices, and ServiceItems tables will hold ServiceID's.

The most easy way is to check in the browser what the original ServiceID was (it's in the url when clicked) vs the new ServiceID and make those modifications in the database.

You can also ignore my previous post about PathID, that only applies to existing sites which have been moved to a different location on the hdd 🙂
