Hello Godbless

I came across this software which look like an amazing product to replace my Plesk server however I've encountered a few issues along my limited journey to install this application and when i finally get it working i start looking a hosting, plans, etc. When looking for WordPress, php, etc. I didn't any see applications preinstalled, etc. nothing found.

Then i found out it needs web platform which has been discontinued. I followed the instruction and added the feed to no avail so is this product fit for purpose still as a website hosting platform? and if so what are the alternative and work arounds if any to get WordPress installed. thank you  in advance

no web platorm
no web platform 1

Hey,

SolidCP was originally designed as a hosting control panel and provides management of services such as PHP, MySQL, IIS, Exchange and many more pieces of software. We have always focused on allowing the person deploying the software to make adjustments in settings to fit the needs of their customers.

We don't have a automated provisioning script for installing or configuring a particular stack (Such as nginx + MySQL + PHP).

We have been working for the past year on a major overhaul of the code which will be released as FuseCP.
One of our goals for this new version is to offer default deployment profiles for common environments—PHP, MySQL, IIS, and similar setups—much closer to what platforms like Plesk provide out of the box.

Regarding applications such as WordPress:
SolidCP historically relied on WebPI, which Microsoft discontinued quite some time ago.
Unfortunately, there is still no strong, modern Windows‑based replacement that offers the same simplicity and reliability.

Because of that we currently have no plans to reintroduce a application installers in SolidCP or FuseCP using a package‑maintained approach.
It’s definitely something we see value in for the future, but for now, there are several third‑party tools and services that can deploy and maintain WordPress and similar applications on Windows hosting environments without issue.

Regards,

Trevor

@trobinson Thank you for your reply apricated however now I'm confused as you still advertise and encourage this application, sell support etc but now the webPI has be discontinued then this application no longer supports or has any interest in this hosting using this software? you working on FuseCP which is great however as mentioned you have no plans for application installers so I'm wondering how your application can be a viable alternative to Plesk and our limited windows webhosting alternatives?

we windows users are sick of Linux getting all the light when it comes to hosting and this application are a breath of fresh air. we're happy to contribute to the cause however we need assurances that what we invest in will not be abandon so what is the plan from a windows hosting environment aspect and what can i use now that works with your application to host websites via WordPress, IIS, PHP are the any scripts e.g., chocolatey as you mentioned 3rd party tools but no links of suggestions what to use for application compatibility?

what is the future like or should we move on? I apricate what you built and hopefully you change your mind on FuseCP and really give us windows users something to cheer about and not wonder why such great potential is lost

is fuse in beta? can i build a VM to look at it and see what offerings it has? Godspeed

@l-ellismoore WebPI is just an form of "automated" way to install specific packages (such as php, or wordpress) it made things more easy to setup but is defenitly not a requirement for system administrators as "the only way" to setup a server, providing hosting, etc. (personally i never used it).

Currently it just means you need to setup iis, php, mysql, mssql your self (it's pretty easy in windows.. mostly running an installer and clicking next, few settings tweaks to harden it as windows does not come "safe and secure" out of the box like linux, which u would also need to do with WebPI method)

You then can just run SolidCP, create websites, ftp, dns, databases, users etc just like plesk does.

Without webPI there is however not a "click to install / setup wordpress for you" this means you upload wordpress files, setup a user/db in mysql, and load the wordpress site that asks for some basic information.

That being said SolidCP (and future FuseCP) doesn't just focus on Web Hosting, it can do alot more (including but not limited to virtualisation of hyper-v and proxmox).

Features can always be added, improved, etc which we are working actively on to do so but also depend on contributors as it's simply a large opensourcr project.
